mmm script

I love a good cursive type! As soon as I saw this one on Veer I was in love. Many high brow people think you should drop wads of cash on invite calligraphy. While, I love caligraphy and think it is a lost art, I just don't have $2.50 + for over a hundred envelopes. This type sadly, is $99 dollars, but you can use it for other projects. Or will give you a good idea of what to look for in some of those free fonts floating around on the net. It's so pretty, I can't stop looking at it!

DIY Cakestands

I saw this idea on Design*Sponge about a month or so ago and I thought it was absolutely brilliant! What an inexpensive and resourceful way to decorate your wedding reception. There is a bit of a myth that you have to drop loads of cash to have a nice wedding. To me, being creative is the key to a unique wedding. These are just vases/candlesticks with plates glued on top.

I love them for a dessert table or as centerpieces on tables. What I'm imagining is taking some florist foam balls and putting flowers in them, like a flower ball? And placing them on top of these plates. How cute would that be? The ideas are pretty endless. If you start scouring yard sales and thift stores now you can make a bunch of these for under $20! So cute.

Adele- throw back music

Everyday while I work I listen to music on Pandora Radio. I love it, and lately love that they keep putting Adele on my play list. If you haven't heard her music, I highly recommend it. It reminds me a little of doowapish music from the 50's. She is sorta similar to Amy Winehouse and Duffy, both of whom I really like. Anyway, I think some of her soulful songs would be really cute at a wedding reception or a bridal shower. Her album runs at about $10 on itunes or amazon.

and she lived...

happily ever after. I saw this bracelet on Amy's Inspire Company shop today and thought what a perfect gift this would be for someone about to get married. I'm a sucker for quote/word jewelry.

If you get a chance, take a browse around her blog and shop for some great eye candy!

Wheres it gonna be?

Well, as I mentioned before we are holding the shindig in the shining town of Floyd, Va. Home of the blue ridge mountains, lots and lots of trees, and the handsome curly headed man I'm marrying!

It just so happens that Floyd will be our new home in less than two months (omg, two months!) after almost two years in NYC for me and about six for Josh, we're ready for a change of scenery. And hopefully some new adventures along the way.

The wedding ceremony will be at the Zion Lutheran Church on 635 Needmore Ln. That address, cracks me up. Everytime I hear Needmore Lane my brain thinks "needmore jeeessuuus!" I'm insane, they should not allow me in church. *I should probably delete that last sentence when people actually start reading this blog.*

One of the coolest aspects of the church is it's age and history. It was built in 1898 by a group of German-American settlers. Its a small church with a lot of charm.

Check it out:

We haven't really set a time yet, but seeing as how it will stay daylight longer, I'm thinking mid-afternoon? When do people do these things? Hmm. Perhaps 3pm or 4? And then the reception from 5pm-11pm?

Speaking of the reception as of right now (hoping they won't have another booking on our new date) we are holding it at the Winter Sun. Now, I don't know a lot about the winter sun, but I've heard a lot about it. Not only is the winter sun a place for concerts, they also house a coffee shop and an art gallery.

I couldn't find many pictures of the place online, but I'll take some pictures when it gets closer to time and post them.

We're getting married!

I know my love for blogging is a little nutty and my wedding planning is getting a little nutty too, so I thought: why not combine the two? This is where I will blog about all of the little and big details that go into planning a wedding.

I will post updates about our own wedding for information purposes and also projects/ideas and inspiration I get along the way!

Our official wedding date is June 6th 2009 and we are getting married in Floyd, VA, 347 days from today!
